True Blue Memphis Lawmen of 1948 An Independent Documentary Film by George Tillman George Tillman, shot the documentary in an attempt to show people the challenges those officers faced and how they overcame them. Tillman says 1948 was the year a number of white police officers were accused of extreme brutality against Africa-American residents. As a result, Memphis Mayor Boss Crump held a meeting with members of the black community. |
The premiere is being presented by Tillman’s company Cinematic Arts, the Ernest Withers Foundation and the African American Police Association, which will receive a portion of the $10 admission fee. |
